Travel Day to Podgorica
September 23, 2024
I rarely capture photos of travel days and yesterday, our actual travel day from Žabljak is no different. There really is nothing special about getting on a bus and certainly nothing glamorous or picture worthy. Don’t get me wrong the scenery was beautiful but it’s difficult to capture anything picture worthy.
NOT our actual bus - but it was small!
That being said we both were very happy to have a young couple sitting behind us that spoke English and it did make this ride better than the last couple bus rides we took. We started a conversation and found they are from the Seattle Washington area and like us have sold everything to travel as much of the world as they can for a year. There are a few differences of course, they are much younger, will have to go back to work, (thankfully we do not)travel faster, and are more adventurous than we are at this stage in life. We also discovered they hiked to the top of Bobotov Kuk, the tallest mountain in Montenegro which is something we did consider. That is until we watched a video and realized it is just a bit out of our comfort zone, much more difficult than our impromptu hike around Cerno Jezro.
What a blessing it was to talk with two like minded people that enjoy travel and seeing as much of the world as possible. Listening to their adventures so far was fascinating, and honestly a little exhausting. Not exhausting listening to them, we really enjoyed our conversation but in placing ourselves in their shoes. They are traveling much faster from place to place than we would have the energy for. We are very excited to follow them for the remainder of their travels, and we have subscribed to their Substack feed.
Our arrival in Podgorica was uneventful, well except for the fact that Google Maps is still not updated with address here in Montenegro. To be fair this country is experiencing a construction boom everywhere and Google is a little behind with updates.
Our AirBnB host Neda was our host in Źabljak as well so we were able to reach out via What’sApp and get directions quickly and settled in. What a lovely little place we have for our week here. The weather was beautiful so we went for a walk to old town and had lunch before heading back to lay in some provisions at the grocery store directly behind our building.
Both of us are suffering from a little bit of allergies and we went to bed a little early even to our standards. 😉
There really is not much in the way of sights to see here but we are looking forward to exploring what Podgorica has to offer. Walking and exploring is a simple pleasure we both very much enjoy.
All the best to our new friend’s Trevor & Lauren. May your adventures be plentiful and filled with joy. Annette and I are happy for you both.
