Cartagena, Spain
Cartagena Spain 2025
Our first port of call after nine days as sea was a welcome and familiar port, we stopped here last April on our first transatlantic cruise to Europe. The weather was little overcast but after 9 days on a ship we were happy to get disembark and walk around this beautiful compact city that was founded around 220 B.C. by the Carthaginians and is now a naval base town for the Spanish navy.
So nice to be able to step on land and enjoy seeing a familiar place that we enjoyed last year and see many of the sights we did last year which included Roman ruins, shocking I’m sure. We enjoy the laid back nature of this city and had sangria, bread and a charcuterie bord with my favorite - jamón ibérico! We did miss dining with our friends we made on last year’s cruise.
It was wonderful to see some early blooms coming signaling Spring is on the way. Roman ruins, beautiful Spanish architecture, canons and watching a Spanish submarine come into port was a good way to spend a short port of call before we headed for our next port of call Palma, Spain on the island of Mallorca.
Until next time…
