Beaune France 🇫🇷
We had Beaune, a charming town just south of Dijon, on our must-visit list during our stay in Dijon. It’s home to many renowned wine producers and the Hospices de Beaune, also known as the Hôtel-Dieu Beaune. We were happy to explore this beautiful 15th-century building, which served as a hospital until 1984 and is now a museum.
Our train ride started off on a delightful note when a friendly couple approached us at the station. They asked in French if we spoke English (pardon, tu parles anglais). We know a few common phrases, and Annette was thrilled to confirm that we did. Turns out they were from New York, and visiting the area just like us. We had a lovely chat about our shared love for France and, of course, the wine. The 30-minute train ride went by very quickly, and we were anxious to explore.
Once we arrived, we took a stroll through the charming streets and explored the town on our own. Before heading to the Hospices de Beaune, we also made sure to visit the cathedral; we always enjoy exploring cathedrals, no matter where we go.
The last place on our list was the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne (City of Climates and Wines of Burgundy). This place offers a wealth of information and education about the production and history of wine in the Burgundy region. If you ever find yourself in the area and have a passion for wine, make sure to stop by. The displays and information are worth a visit, and the wine tasting at the end was absolutely fantastic!
Until Next Time…
