Château du Clos Lucé - Amboise 🇫🇷
Annette and I were both very excited to visit this beautiful chateau here in Amboise. We saved it for last to visit before we explored further into the Loire Valley.
Clos Lucé has known several famous owners. King Charles the VIII bought the home in 1490 for his ‘summer house’. After a few decades, King Francis I gave the chateau to Leonardo da Vinci when he invited him to live in Amboise in 1516. Leonardo lived and worked his last few years in this home until he passed away in 1519.
The house is now privately owned and was lovingly restored. It was a great way to spend the day. Wonderful displays of Leonardo’s work and inventions, a wonderful restoration of his work area, and the home makes this chateau the 4th most visited in the Loire Valley.
So many displays and information about da Vinci are displayed all around the area, and we enjoyed taking it all in. Such a beautiful home and grounds. We both enjoyed our time here, visiting the grounds and home, more than once during the day.
Until Next Time…
