Amboise πŸ‡«πŸ‡· & Loire Valley

Our last night in this charming little town was absolutely beautiful. We had a lovely walk and are now tidying up and packing as we get ready for our next adventure.

Amboise has been an amazing place to explore the Loire Valley and as a base to visit chΓ’teaux and wineries. We’ve loved watching the trees start to bud; the daffodils and tulips were in full bloom, and now the trees have their leaves, and everything is a gorgeous shade of green. Spring is such a magical time, seeing everything come back to life with such vibrant colors and new energy.

Annette & I enjoy the simple pleasures of life: a slow morning, enjoying coffee, and taking a long walk around the town, just exploring. Our favorite walk was walking across the bridge to the island in the river and walking through the wonderful green space along the river. Exploring the town, having a little late lunch, and an evening walk. Just spending time together and exploring.

Walks exploring the area were so lovley

We have gotten to know a few of the shopkeepers at the local boulangerie  and the local grocery store. It is nice seeing some of the same faces, even if it is just for a few weeks. The people here in Amboise are so friendly and quick with a bonjour as we walk by. It is funny when they start talking in French to either of us, and we both have the deer-in-the-headlights look before most of them switch to English. We have had to use Google Translate a few times; the language barrier is not as bad as we anticipated.

Amboise may be small, but it does offer plenty to explore and enjoy: history, food, wine, friendly people, walks along the Loire River and of course, the chateaux in town are wonderful to visit.

A stop by the Boulangerie was almost a daily occurrence.

We leave for London tomorrow to continue our 2025 adventure. A week in London, starting off with a train ride through the English Channel, is something I have always wanted to experience, and I look forward to it. Annette not as much, but she has a good book to read and will keep busy reading Jane Austen as we start our visit to the UK.
